PURPOSE:To obtain the title polyether which can give a sealing material excellent in heat resistance, weathering resistance, adhesiveness, etc., by reacting an epoxy-terminated polyether with an organic compound having a plurality of -SH groups and a specified organosilicon compound. CONSTITUTION:An epoxy-terminated polyether (A) of formula I (wherein R1 and R2 are each a bivalent hydrocarbon group, and m is 10-500) is reacted with an aromatic or heterocyclic compound (B) having two mercapto groups bonded to carbon atoms which constitute the aromatic or heterocyclic ring (e.g., a compound of formula II) and an organosilicon compound (C) having both epoxy and hydrolyzable groups of formula III (wherein R3 and R4 are each a bivalent hydrocarbon group, R5 is a monovalent hydrocarbon group, R6 is a 1-6C alkyl and a is 1-3), e.g., formula IV. In this way, the title polyether of a mol.wt. of 1,000-50,000, represented by formula V (wherein X is a residue of component B and n=1), can be obtained.
