SLAG DISCHARGING METHOD IN MELT REDUCTION REFINING BY CONVERTER

PURPOSE:To permit discharging of molten slag without decreasing the yield of tapping by positioning at least one of bottom blowing tuyeres to a slag layer and ejecting gas at the time of tilting a converter and discharging the slag. CONSTITUTION:The converter body 1 is tilted to the slag off side so that a molten steel layer 6 is positioned lower than the bottom blowing tuyeres 5, i.e., at least one of the tuyeres 5 is held immersed in the slag layer 4. The gas of a high flow rate is ejected from only the tuyere 5 positioned in the slag layer 4 in this state and the gas of a low flow rate is ejected from the other tuyeres 5. Only the slag is moved toward a converter throat part 2 by the thrust force of the gas jets to the slag layer 4 by which the slag is discharged. The outflow of the molten steel during the discharge of the molten slag is averted and the yield of tapping is improved by the above-mentioned method.
