- 25 -NON-LINEAR STAIRABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSUREA modified construction for a non-linear orcurved staircase employs a technique in which the treadsfor the staircase are initially cut to the required shapeand size. Flexible plywood boards of the same length andheight as the required stringers are then attached to thetreads with the treads positioned in the required loca-tions and orientations so as to create a rigid self-supporting structure formed by the flexible boards andthe attached treads and risers where required. The self-supporting structure is then finished by the attachmentto the flexible boards of suitable laminations. House oftreads have the laminations applied to the outer surfaceof the boards. Exposed end treads have the laminationsapplied to the inner side of the boards.
