COMPOSITION FOR ANIMAL THIAMPHENICOL INJECTION AND SOLUTION THEREOF FOR INJECTION

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled stable and concentrated composition, by blending thiamphenicol with 2-pyrrolidone and, as necessary, polyvinylpyrrolidone and capable of using only a required amount in use and preserving the residual liquid for reuse. CONSTITUTION:A composition for injection containing 5-35pts.wt. thiamphenicol, the reminder of 2-pyrrolidone and, as necessary, 1-30pts.wt. polyvinylpyrrolidone having 5,000-100,000, preferably 10,000-17,000 average molecular weight as a stabilizer. The above-mentioned composition is dissolved in water or a polyhydric alcohol, e.g. triethylene glycol, ethylene glycol monoethyl ether or glycerol, to provide a given concentration, normally 50-200mg/ml to prepare a solution for injection. The thiamphenicol can be sustained at a high concentration in the living body after injection by using the above-mentioned solution for injection.
