The edge bolts (4) are used so that when the doors are in a closed and locked situation, the opening is locked when the active door half lock is secured. Where the edge bolts are not secured the locked double doors can be easily pulled open. A projecting stop for each edge bolt is provided on the extending free vertical edge of the passive door half (2). This prevents locking of the two door halves. The stop disappears when the corresponding edge bolt adopts the locked position.
