METHOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY REMOVAL OF RESIDUES FROM STEEL DUST DUSTING PLANTS

Process for the environmentally sound disposal of water-soluble residues and waste, which pose a risk to the environment, in particular those from dust precipitators in steel works. In order to eliminate the risk of leaching of the substances contained in the residues under landfill conditions, the residues of steelworks dust precipitators and other hazardous waste are introduced into a molten slag present in an arc furnace or running out of the latter during tapping and are allowed to cool together with this slag. This causes vitrification of the residues, which thereby become virtually insoluble under usual landfill conditions and no longer present a risk to the environment.
