-23-ABSTRACTA process for the production of coloured films ofpaper impregnated with synthetic resin which containmelamine resin and have a three-dimensional surfacestructure,by printing the paper films with a pattern andlacquering thereover, and an aqueous printing colour isused, and the colour which is printed in the regionsin which the lacquerlayer is thinner than in the otherregions contains a lacquer repellent, and the printedand dried paper film is impregnated with an aqueousimpregnation of a melamine resin from the unprintedside, with the formation of a one-sided excess ofresin, and is dried, the printed and impregnated filmis coated on the printed side with an aqueous lacquerbased on melamine resins, and the lacquered film ishardened at elevated temperature without applyingpressure.
