ABSTRACT Ox THE DISCLOSUREA method of inhibiting amorphous silica scale formationon surfaces in contact with industrial waters containing dissolvedsilicates is disclosed. The method involves treating the industrialwaters with a boron compound which dissolves in or hydrolyzes in theseindustrial waters to give the orthoborate ion. The preferred boroncompound is boric acid, its salts or precursors.
