AN APPARATUS FOR CONTROLLING SHIPS WITH A DRIVE MEANS IN THE FORM OF RUDDER PROPELLERS, JETS, PUMP-JETS AND THE LIKE

A device for navigating ships with a drive like a rudder propeller. The control pulses are fed by means of mechanical units at the start of a system of control elements into this control-element system and are transmitted in this system. Allocated to the mechanical units (4, 5) of the control system is a control column (1) which is mounted at the bottom end on a well cover (2). The well cover (2) covers a shaft which accommodates the ship's drive (16) and is detachably connected to the shaft wall. The control column (1) is in particular pivotably mounted at the bottom end on the well cover (2) in such a way that the control column, in its operating position, keeps the mechanical units (4, 5) at a level above the well cover (2) resulting from the operating conditions, but in the standby position can be lowered down onto the well cover to such an extent that the mechanical units are located at a correspondingly low level above the plane of the well cover (Fig. 2).
