For manufacturing tubing of this type a moving band (B) of ferritic stainless steel is continuously formed into a tube (T) having adjacent longitudinal edges and said edges are welded to form a longitudinal welded area between the edges.;By water quenching of said welded area while it is still red hot from the welding operation and quenching to room temperature ductility shall be rendered to this area to permit subsequent cold forming without cracking.
