The invention relates to a process for the preparation of polychlorophosphazene. The polymer is obtained by polycondensation of N (dichlorophosphoryl) trichlorophosphazene in the presence of bis (dichlorophosphoryl) imide. The presence of bis (dichlorophosphoryl) imide significantly accelerates the speed of the polycondensation reaction.
