Method for the biological treatment of nitrogen loaded waste waters

In the method for biological treatment of waste waters (effuent) with an increased content of nitrogen compounds, air is introduced into a tank containing waste water and activated sludge. After attaining a pre-determined minimum pH the air supply is turned off and a specific quantity of sludge/water mixture is removed from the tank. Following this removal, an equivalent quantity of fresh waste water is added and after a pre-determined maximum pH has been reached, the air and recirculated sludge are also added again.
