PEELING APPARATUS OF EXTERIOR RIND OF RAW CHESTNUTS

Appts. comprises a horizontal, cylindrical rotary drum with a series of spaced blades fitted transversely along the exterior circumference of the drum. A conveyor carries the chestnuts along the drum circumference in contact with cutting edges of the blades which cut into the husk. Pref. the band of the conveyor runs adjacent to the upper half of the drum circumference in the arc where the drum surface is rising towards its highest point. After chestnuts have been passed along the surface of the cutter drum they are pref. then passed along the surface of a coaxial beater drum of similar dia. and equipped with circumferentially spaced beaters to detach cut husk.
