Two bearings (4,5) carried by supports (6,7) connected by a cross member (8) carry a spindle (1) with a handle (9) attached. The handle is a closed loop with a block (18) inside, with its surface shaped to support the fingers of an incapacitated person. The block is supported so that the fingers can be extended and retracted individually or together against the palm of the hand. The grip can also be rotated to exercise the wrist. Adjacent to the handle is a screw (24) to control the amount of friction applied to the spindle so as to control the amount of force required to rotate the spindle by using the grip. Also mounted on the spindle are collars (26,27) of different sizes to enable the hands to be opened wider when used for gripping. The position of the gripping block (18) is adjusted by screws. USE/ADVANTAGE - The hands of arthritic or spastic patients can be exercised.
