The cylindrical combustion chamber (23) adjacent to an ash chamber (39) of a wood burning stove, has a double water jacket (13) with its two sections enclosing the two chambers. The ash chamber uses a space above a filling (33) of iron grit to collect the ash. This forms a high temperature heat storage zone (15) which receives heat from the carbonisation gases, for transfer to the water jacket. These gases travel through a horizontal tube (37) between the two chambers. The flue gases pass down one side (36) of a U-shaped tube (35) inside the heat sotrage zone, for discharge at the top of the other side (38). The combustion chamber incorporates a vertical refractory cylinder (25) and a secondary air supply tube (32). USE/ADVANTAGE - Wood burning stove. Slow even combustion for a daily charge is maintained and pollution is reduced.
