An activated sand with added filler for hot mixes, characterized in that it takes the form of particles completely coated with a film binder made up with tar, more particularly bitumen, conferring a hydrophobic character on the sand, the particles being obtained from reclaimed surfacings, by crushing until a proportion of 15 to 45% by weight, preferably 20 to 35% by weight, of particles smaller than about 80 mu m is obtained.
