Basic copper phthalocyanine dyestuffs of the general formula IMAGE (I) in which Cu-Pc denotes the radical of an m+n-valent copper phthalocyanine radical, A denotes alkylene B denotes a radical of the formula IMAGE R1 denotes hydrogen or alkyl, R2, R3 and R4, independently of one another, denote alkyl which can be substituted by hydroxyl or alkoxy groups, R5 denotes hydrogen, alkyl or aminoalkyl, R6 and R7, independently of each other, denote hydrogen or alkyl which can be substituted by hydroxyl, alkoxy or amino groups, and R8 denotes hydrogen or alkyl, or R1 can form a closed ring with R2, R2 can form a closed ring with R3, R5 can form a closed ring with R6 and/or R6 can form a closed ring with R7, m denotes a number from 1.0 to 2.5, n denotes a number from 0 to 1.4, where m+n is 1.8 to 2.5, p denotes 0, 1, 2 or 3 and X(-) denotes an anion, are used for dyeing paper.
