The invention relates to a self-lubricating spherical plain bearing, the inner and outer sliding rings of which are integral and the surfaces of which are corresponding designed as spherical segments. The object on which the invention is based is to make such bearings simpler and less expensive in terms of the work required and, on the other hand, also to facilitate the assembly of the parts of the bearing. The invention achieves this object by virtue of the fact that the inner and outer sliding rings are matched to one another in such a way that there remains between them an annular gap which is only partially filled by inserts, giving pockets which had hitherto to be milled into the outer sliding ring. Since these inserts form one side of the sliding track, only one of the sliding rings need be composed of hardened material and have a spherical sliding track. The new method consists, inter alia, in that the assembly of the parts of the bearing is carried out in such a way that only some of the inserts are inserted, leaving pockets, before the insertion of the inner sliding ring and the remaining insert(s) is/are then pushed in.
