In order to remove liquids, which are a threat to fresh water, in an environmentally friendly manner, the invention proposes to provide, in a river bed, a channel (2) which is located approximately 1.50 m lower than the river bed, and to install, into the channel (2), a pipeline (3) which is of frost-resistant design. At defined intervals, the pipeline (3) is provided with branchings which open into a salt trench which is present in the vicinity of the river (1) and in which the salt load is precipitated and the water which has been channelled off is then channelled back into the course of the river as pre-filtered water.
