Fixed bed rotating tube reactor with axis inclined to the horizontal for biotechnological processes with evolution of gas

A fixed bed tube reactor which is packed, leaving a free space of /= 10%, with packing or carrier bodies colonised by microorganisms and is mounted essentially horizontally but with an inclination of at least 3 DEG to the horizontal and is in continuous or intermittent rotation to facilitate escape of gas in biotechnological processes, according to P3608466.2, is expediently designed with one wall and with running wheel drive and support. Liquid inlet and outlet take place in each case through a hollow shaft which is elevated on the outlet side and thus determines the liquid level in the rotating tube. Gas escapes out of the gas collecting space, which is located above this, through gas escape orifices which are provided with valve elements and which in each case are freed on passing the highest point in particular with the aid of a catch mechanism. Longitudinal ribs of the tube jacket which project inwards and whose radial dimensions preferably amount to /= 10% of the tube radius promote rearrangement of the packing bed during rotation.
