Sepn. of enantiomers used as animal growth stimulating additives - by adding di:acetone-2-keto-L-gulonic acid to (amino-dichloro:phenyl)-2-(tert. butyl)-hydroxy-amino-ethanol

(A) In a new process for separating the mixture of the enantiomeric forms of 1-(4-amino-3,5-dichlorophenyl) -2-(tert-butyl)-hydroxy-amino-ethanol (I) the mixture is treated with a ca equimolar amount of (-)-diacetone-2-keto-l-gulonic acid (II) in alkanol and the resulting poorly soluble salt of one of the enantiomsis is separated off. (B) The enantiomers of (I) having specific rotations in chloroform of (alpha)30/D=-44.1 deg. (c=1.5) and +52.6 deg. (c=1.6) are new and claimed, as is their use as efficiency promoters in animals. USE - (I) (known from DE3535333) has an efficiency promoting effect in animals, e.g. it exerts growth-promoting effects, improves milk and wool production, improves feed utilisation, and shifts flesh/fat ratios in favour of flesh. The new enantioners have the same activity.
