Radar antenna arrangement having a reduced echoing cross-section

For detecting a target which is equipped with its own radar antenna, for example an aircraft, by means of an enemy radar system, the target's own radar antenna frequently represents one of the main sources of the echoing of incident radar waves. In order to camouflage such a target against detection by the enemy radar, the echoing cross-section of its own radar antenna must therefore be considerably reduced. A frequency-selective flat grid structure having a bandpass characteristic is arranged for this purpose in front of its own on-board antenna, which grid structure allows waves at a frequency within the operating frequency band of its own antenna to pass through largely unimpeded while waves at a frequency outside the operating frequency band are reflected like a mirror.
