Process for the coculture of maize and sorghum with the aim of silage feed production

A process is described for the coculture of maize and sorghum with the aim of silage feed production, in which maize and sorghum are sown on one and the same area, namely in such a manner that the sorghum is sown in each individual row on top of the maize. The maize is planted at a density of 50,000-60,000 plants/ha, and sorghum at a density of 200,000-220,000 plants/ha. Other features concern the sowing date, which is adapted to suit the temperature requirements of sorghum, and the harvest, which is carried out as a function of the moisture content of the maize. Moreover, it is advantageous to allow those parts of the sorghum which remain in the field after harvesting to produce new shoots and then to harvest the crop subsequently obtained.
