A process for separation of the molybdenum contained in sulphuric or nitric solutions of uranium using, for precipitating the molybdenum, a product which belongs to the family of hydroxyoximes of the general formula R-C(=N-OH)-CH(-OH)-R' in which R and R' are alkyl, ethoxyalkylaryl and benzylalkyl chains, which are soluble in a solvent which is miscible with the solution, characterized in that R and R' are selected from groups having a certain degree of hydrophobicity imparting a hydrophobic character to the precipitate containing the molybdenum, and that said precipitate is subjected to flotation.
