The invention relates to a monitoring system comprising a device with a controlled carriage (trolley) 5 driven 7 along an overhead rail 10. According to the invention, this device consists of a motor 7 securely attached to a carriage (trolley) 5 comprising an output shaft to which a pulley is fixed by wedges which receives a connection of the cable type wound around the said pulley in order to form a half- circle or a round turn, the end of the cable being fixed at each rail end.
