Process for the conversion of a feedstock comprising hydrocarbons which have high boiling temperatures into hydrocarbons which have lower boiling temperatures by means of a hydrogen-rich reactive gas, comprising the preheating of the feedstock A between 360 and 460 DEG C, heating the reactive gas B between 600 and 1200 DEG C, mixing the feedstock and the reactive gas in a reactor C, maturing the resulting mixture in a maturing furnace D, cooling the mixture E, separation in a separator F into gas and liquid, characterised in that a thermal shock is produced on the hydrocarbons forming the feedstock, by means of a hydrogen-rich reactive gas releasing an energy of between 62.79 and 251.13 kJ/mol of hydrocarbon, followed by a maturation of 5 to 120 seconds at a temperature of 400 to 600 DEG C and at a pressure of 1 to 200 bars. This process makes it possible to obtain relatively high quantities of liquid hydrocarbons while limiting the production of gaseous products and losses and carbon deposits. IMAGE
