The present invention relates to a method of generating a melody note by note adapted to a given initial song each note of which is associated with a chord of a given accompaniment. This method comprises the following steps: setting up a series of notes of the chord and of their successive higher or lower order harmonics arranged in the order of increasing frequencies, choosing, in this sequence, the lowest of the notes whose immediately-higher harmonic is sharper than the corresponding note of the initial melody or a note offset by a given number of increments with respect to the said lowest of the notes.
