Hydraulic elevator in a well 2 making it possible, in the event of irregular ignition of the rocket or missile engine 1 which it positions and holds on a float 3 in the working position, to use the vertical force released to automatically provide an intensive irrigation, automatic lowering into the well 2, flooding of the latter and making the operators and installations safe. According to addition an annular, cylindrical volume 15 is provided around the well 2 and at the bottom part allowing the latter to emptied by gravity by means of a flap 18, the volume 15 is normally kept empty by a pump 19, and at the bottom of the well 2 a furrow 16 is provided reducing the play between the float 3 and the well 2.
