A machine includes a flexible arcuate cutting blade 188 which in use serves to make a cut the contour of which corresponds to the contour of the blade. According to the invention, at least one end of the cutting blade is adjustably mounted whereby the contour of the blade can be varied by effecting the adjustment. The machine may be used to remove portions of flesh from the centres of halved potatoes, in order to form potato boats. IMAGE
