PURPOSE:To obtain a Japanese word document processor which can simply perform the conversion of KANJI (Chinese characters) including the unknown reading forms of person names, place names, etc., by reading out the relevant KANJI with designation of the radical information and the total stroke number. CONSTITUTION:A KANJI dictionary FDM consists of a single sheet of floppy disk memory and its memory part includes a radical index part and a total stroke number index part. When the dictionary FDM is set and the radical stroke number is received to a numerical key in response to a message of a CRT, the corresponding stroke number part is read out and 5-10 radicals are displayed at a retrieval/display part of the CRT. A number is given to each radical and therefore the selection of radicals is possible with input of those corresponding numbers by means of the numerical keys. Then the total stroke number is supplied in response to the due message and 5-10 radicals are displayed at the retrieval/display part. Thus the KANJI selection is carried out with input of the numeric character corresponding to the due number. Based on this designation of KANJI, the KANJI are added into the sentences displayed at a document production part of the CRT.
