SEALER FOR PEELING ASBESTOS AND ASBESTOS-PEEING METHOD

PURPOSE:To obtain the title sealer effective in preventing the scattering of dust of asbestos fibers, by mixing a liquid dispersion medium containing a water-soluble polymer with a liquid dispersion medium containing a gelling agent for the water-soluble polymer. CONSTITUTION:A 2nd solution is produced by compounding a liquid dispersion medium containing a water-soluble polymer (e.g., PVA) with, as necessary, a synthetic resin emulsion or a synthetic rubber. Separately, a 1st solution is produced by compounding a liquid dispersion medium containing a gelling agent (e.g., boric acid) of the water-soluble polymer with, as necessary, a chelate resin (e.g., sodium alginate) and an infiltration promotor (e.g., polyoxyethylene octyl phenyl ether). The objective sealer for peeling asbestos is obtained by compounding the 1st solution with the 2nd solution at a ratio corresponding to 0.2-200 pts.wt. of the gelling agent based on 100 pts.wt. of the water-soluble polymer. The sealer is applied to and impregnated in an exterior layer composed of asbestos sprayed to a building layer and the exterior layer is mechanically peeled off from the building.
