PURPOSE:To enable production of band light isolators with small insertion loss by shielding the LPE oven from the external atmosphere during growing Bi-substituted magnetic garnet film to control the interior of said oven to a specified atmosphere to reduce the light absorption. CONSTITUTION:A liquid reservoir 12 filled with a liquid metal such as gallium is located around the upper opening of an oven core tube 11, and a base plate revolving bar 14 integrated with a cap 13 is made to descend to the position for growing magnetic garnet film; at this time the end of the cap 13 is immersed in the liquid metal 15 to enable perfect shielding of the LPE oven from the external atmosphere. Also,when magnetic garnet film is grown, even if said bar 14 is revolved, the end of the cap 13 is kept immersed in the liquid metal 15, thus retaining the shielded state. Furthermore, regulation of the amount of said liquid metal 15 allows said bar 14, while shielding from the external atmosphere, to be vertically moved within a range of several centimeters; thus resulting in reducing the light absorption of the Bi-substituted garnet and producing band light isolators with small insertion loss.
