EFFICIENT PRODUCTION OF SEED OF HYBRID OF RICE PLANT

PURPOSE:To efficiently produce seeds of hybrid of rice plant, by withering rice plant of one parent system before harvesting utilizing difference in susceptibility to herbicide between father and mother systems. CONSTITUTION:A herbicide-resistant rice plant is made by using gene recombination or mutation, another cultivar which is male sterile and resistant to herbicide is obtained by hybridization using the rice plant and used as a mother rice plant. A mother system and a father system are planted in different levees or subjected to companion planting. Since the father system is withered when a herbicide is applied 10 days after flowering, the aimed seed is harvested. Consequently, since the high-purity seed is obtained and companion planting can be carried out, pollination ratio is improved and production is increased.
