PURPOSE:To relieve the possibility of addition of error due to error correction by allowing an error information detector to inhibit an output of error correction information when an input shows a bit pattern not in existence as a normal syndrome. CONSTITUTION:The n-th selection signal Sn1 controls the n-th switch circuit SWn, when no error correction information 121 is outputted from any detector among a 1st detector D1 to a (n-1)th detector Dn-1 and an output Sn of a n-th ROM shows a 1st bit pattern or a 2nd bit pattern. Then it is inhibited that the output Sn of the n-th ROM is outputted as an error correction information output. In case of the 2nd bit pattern, an output control signal 123 of the error correction information is used to control an output switch circuit 122 to inhibit the output of the error correction information independently of the output state of the other detectors D1-Dn-1.
