CONSTITUTION RECOGNIZING SYSTEM

PURPOSE:To easily recognize the packed function board by providing a signal line which transfers the specific signal output terminals of each slot to the specific signal input terminals of the next stage at and after the head slot where a CPU is packed. CONSTITUTION:A CPU 2 outputs a constitution recognizing command using a specific signal onto a system bus 1. A back-up panel BP transfers the specific signals to each slot in the order of slot numbers to urge an answer of said recognizing command. Thus, a memory 3 packed in a SLOT #1 sends the infor mation on the packing slot No. and the type of its own board, and the revision, the memory size, etc., to the CPU 2 via the bus 1. The CPU 2 confirms that the memory 3 is packed in a SLOT #2 from the answer information. Then the CPU 2 transmits the constitution recognizing commands hereafter and recognizes in the same way an I/O controller 4A packed into a SLOT #3 by the function of the BP.
