PURPOSE: To selectively separate and recover desired ions by pouring many kinds of ion solns. into a column packed with a compsn. consisting of silica covalently, bonded with a macrocyclic compd. having a specific constitutional formula. CONSTITUTION: The compsn. expressed by formula I [A, C, D, F denote oxygen; B, E denote M-R (R denotes H, an alkyl group, benzyl group) ; (n) denotes 0, 1, 2; X denotes CH3 , Cl, O-silica] is packed into a column. Many kinds of the ion solns. are passed into the column and one kind of the ions among many kinds of the ion solns. are selectively separated. As mother method, many kinds of the ion solns. are passed in the column packed with the compsn. expressed by formula II [A to F denote O, S, N-R (R denotes H, an alkyl group or the like); (n) denotes 0 to 4; X denotes an alkyl group or the like], to separate one kind of the desired ions.
