PURPOSE:To efficiently adjust the surface potential of a photosensitive body by adjusting automatically the height of a main electrifying part in a process unit by a driver. CONSTITUTION:To positioning pins 4, 5 of a testing device body 1, a process block 2 incorporating a photosensitive drum 9 and a main electrifying part 11 is attached by brackets 7, 8. When the main switch of the body 1 is turned ON, the drum 9 is turned, a high voltage is supplied to the main electrifying part 11 and the electrification of the surface of the drum 9 is started. In this case, the surface potential of the drum 9 is measured by surface electrometers 27, 28. Subsequently, a control part 34 starts the driving control of a height adjusting driver 29, allows a mobile member 38 to descend to the main electrifying part 11, and a color bit 39 is abutted against the adjusting screw of the main electrifying part 11. Next, the control part 34 rotates the bit 39 by a prescribed angle, respectively, and adjusts height before and behind an electrification wire. Thereafter, the surface potential of the drum 9 is measured, and the same adjusting operation is repeated until it becomes an allowable range. In such a way, the surface potential can be adjusted efficiently.
