PURPOSE: To improve the performance of a data processor with a simple constitution by taking out a branch micro instruction and a non-branch micro instruction in a current micro instruction cycle and selecting one of them based on a condition signal. CONSTITUTION: The micro instruction stored in a certain address of a microprogram memory 12 is stored in a register 24, and a branch address field of this address in the memory 12 is stored in a latch 18. While this micro instruction is executed, the micro instruction stored in the address in the latch 18 of the memory 12 is stored in a latch 17. Next, the micro instruction stored in the address, which is obtained by adding one to this address, of the memory 12 is outputted from the memory 12. Any one of the micro instruction stored in the latch 17 or that outputted from the memory 12 is stored in a register 24 as the micro instruction to be next executed.
