PURPOSE:To obtain the subject powder having high purity and a small average particle size by heating Nb2O5, MgO and PbO in a specified molar ratio in a molten alkali metal halide. CONSTITUTION:Nb2O5 is mixed with MgO and PbO in 1:1:3(1+x) (x is a positive number, preferably =1) molar ratio of Nb2O5:MgO:PbO and an alkali metal halide, preferably KCl is added to the mixture by =20wt.%. They are melted by heating at 800-1,200 deg.C, preferably 850-1,050 deg.C for =30min, preferably =1hr and the title oxide powder is obtd.
