PURPOSE:To determine the optimum cutting condition data automatically, not manually, by providing a cutting condition determining means determining the optimum cutting conditions according to tips and works based on the data and machining information. CONSTITUTION:When a work is to be cut, the machining information INF stored in a machining program memory 17 is retrieved, a tool to be used is determined, the bar code DT1 of the tip fitted to the tool is read out by a data reading means 9 and 21. The tip data DATA corresponding to this DT1 are read out from a tip data storing means 11, the optimum cutting conditions DAT1 corresponding to the tip and the work are determined by cutting condition determining means 12, 22, 40-42 based on the tip data DATA and the machining information INF read out, and they are stored in a memory means 12. The optimum cutting conditions according to works and tips can be determined automatically, not manually.
