PURPOSE:To decrease the capacity of a battery and a generator by supplying power of the DC generator, driven by a rotor shaft of an eddy current type retarder, to its coil. CONSTITUTION:A driving gear 1 connects its output shaft 2 to one end of a rotor shaft 7 in an eddy current type retarder 6 through a universal joint 3, drive shaft 4 and a universal joint 5. While a DC generator 20 has its rotary shaft 21 fitted to the one end part of the rotor shaft 7 through pulleys 19, 22. In the normal running condition, because the eddy current type retarder 6 performs no action, the DC generator 20 is placed in a no-load condition with a slight amount of power loss. An electric current is supplied to a coil 14 from the DC generator 20 when a control lever 27 is operated, and rotor discs 15 generate an induction current and brake force.
