INSPECTION OF WELD PART FOR TANK FOR LOW TEMPERATURE LIQUID STORAGE

PURPOSE:To achieve a significant curtailment of an inspection man-hour with simultaneous inspection of a flaw and a leak in a weld surface, by mixing a developer for permeation flaw detection with an NH3 gas detecting agent beforehand to apply the mixed liquid after a permeation treatment and an NH3 gas treatment. CONSTITUTION:A developer for permeation flaw detection test is mixed with an ammonia gas detecting agent beforehand to prepare a mixed liquid. In the inspection of a weld surface, first, a weld part is pretreated, a permeation liquid is applied thereon and then, cleaned up by a detergent. Then, an ammonia gas is introduced into a back space of the weld part. The mixed liquid is applied on the surface of the weld part to observe the state of discoloring, which enables simultaneous inspection of a flaw and a leak in a weld surface. This can elimi nate similar treating work in both the inspections thereby permitting a reduction in the inspection man-hour by about 30% while expense can be cut down by about 30%.
