摘要

PURPOSE:To prevent a breakage accident at socket parts by engaging a fastening ring with the periphery near the end faces of the socket parts of graphite electrodes and cooling it while blowing cooling medium against it, when applying current to the graphite electrodes connected by a nipple screwed to the socket part. CONSTITUTION:When electrically dissolving and refining metal by applying current to the connected graphite electrodes 1, 2 after connecting the graphite electrodes 1, 2 by screwing a nipple into the socket parts of the graphite electrodes 1, 2, a fastening ring 3 is engaged round the circumference near the end faces of socket parts of the graphite electrodes 1, 2 and this fastening ring 3 is blown a cooling medium at request so as to cool. Accordingly, crackes near the end faces of the socket parts, which occur primarily in an are furnace, can be completely prevented. Hereby, a breakage accident at socket parts of graphite electrodes can be prevented.
