PURPOSE:To obtain a molecular clathrate complex with hydroxyl compound as the host molecule and hydrazine as the guest molecule, separable into the hydrazine and the hydroxyl compound through distillation, by reaction between each specific hydroxyl compound and hydrazine. CONSTITUTION:The objective complex can be obtained by reaction between (A) a hydroxyl compound selected from (a) phenolic compounds of formulas I and II, respectively, (b) dihydroxybenzene compounds of formulas III and IV, respectively, (c) bisphenol compounds of formula V, (d) naphtols, and (e) acetylenediols and (B) a hydrazine such as hydrated hydrazine, alkyl-hydrazine of formula VI or the like in the molar ratio A/B=1/1 at 0 to 70 deg.C. In the above- mentioned formulas, R is H, 1-3C alkyl or R'; R' is 1-3C alkoxy; R2-3 are each H, lower alkyl or lower alkyl-substituted phenyl, R2 and R3 are linked to give a group of formula VII; X is S or C, when X is S, R4-5 are each O, and when X is O, R4-5 are each H, lower alkyl, phenyl, etc.; R6-7 are each H or lower alkyl with a proviso that one or both of them is lower alkyl.
