METHOD FOR CHANGING CAST BILLET WIDTH IN SINGLE BELT TYPE THIN SHEET CONTINUOUS CASTING

PURPOSE:To change the width dimension of a cast billet during casting by arranging a new face weir by changing the width of a side weir at the inner side than a rear face weir set position and providing a new face weir on the position removing an old face weir by moving both in the traveling direction of a belt. CONSTITUTION:New face weirs 3-10 are arranged between both side weirs whose widths are set in L2. Both side weirs in L1, those in L2 and new face weirs 3-10 are then moved in the traveling direction of a metal belt 1. When the side weir 2-1, 2-2 is passed through a rear face weir set position 7 by this movement, the width of the side weir becomes in L2 and a rear face weir 3-1 is made to form no basin part 4. An old gear face weir 3-1 is therefore be removed to the upper part prior to the side weir 2-1, 2-2 passing through the rear face weir set position 7 and while the width of the side weir is held in L1. The side weir and new face weir are moved further and the new face weir is set up at the set position 7. The cast billet width can thus be changed from L1 to L2 without suspending the manufacturing with the cast billet in L2 width being manufactured thereafter.
