PURPOSE:To enable control of thread tension by means of the tension control feedback system of a motor even during braking and to stabilize thread tension, by a method wherein, when a paste-coating device or the like is brought to an emergency stop, a friction brake force is used in combination with a brake force generated by the torque generated by a drive motor. CONSTITUTION:Because electromagnetic solenoid valves 17 and 18 are switched by a brake control circuit when breaking of a thread occurs, compressed air is supplied from air sources S1.S2 to brakes B1-B3 to operate the brakes.
