PURPOSE:To suppress a fault in a transmission line only to a relevant section and to improve the reliability by connecting feeders of each cable in the lump to ground directly through submarine earthing at a cable branch of a submarine transmission line. CONSTITUTION:Feeders a-c of each transmission line are connected to a submarine earth (d) of a submarine branch device D of a branch section and connected to a ground in the lump. Each cable is energized independently between the feeder of respective terminal stations A-C and the submarine earth (d) of the submarine branch device D of the branch section. Even if a fault takes place between, e.g., the terminal section A and the submarine branch device D, each cable is energized independently between the feeder of the respective terminal station A or B and the submarine earth (d) of the submarine branch device D of the branch section, and the section between the terminal station B and the submarine branch device D of the branch section or between the terminal station C and the submarine branch device D of the branch section is not affected by a fault and its repair. Thus, communication is attained as to the sections except the faulty section, the repair of the faulty section is executed safely and high reliability is attained.
