PURPOSE:To register only a fundamental reading KANA (Japanese syllabary) in a reading KANA dictionary, and to always display a candidate, while inputting it at the time of reverse conversion, by registering the KANA character- string concerned in the reading KANA dictionary, as reading corresponding to a KANJI (Chinese character), when the KANJI corresponding to the inputted KANA character-string has been decided definitely. CONSTITUTION:By an input device 1, a character is inputted to an editor 2, and the editor 2 refers to a KANJI dictionary 3, delivers a candidate character to a display control part 6 from a character generator 5 and displays it on a display device 7. Until this displayed candidate becomes a desired character, a display of a conversion, a non-conversion, etc., is executed, and by a display end notice, it becomes an input state. Subsequently, when the candidate is determined, it is registered in a reading KANA dictionary by a displayed character code. In this case, it is updated (learning function) to a place of a first candidate, and if it is first data, a new data is informed to the place of the first candidate, and a dictionary is generated along the use tendency of a user.
