OPTICAL CABLE JUNCTURE OF COMPOSITE ELECTRIC POWER-OPTICAL CABLE

PURPOSE:To obtain a juncture of optical cables which withstands an external pressure, is highly watertight, is flexible and can prevent the damage of a water shielding pipe by protecting the juncture of optical fiber cores with double constructions consisting of an external pressure protective pipe and water shielding pipe and providing a cushion layer between the external pressure protective pipe and the water shielding pipe. CONSTITUTION:The external pressure protective pipe 20 which covers the juncture of the optical fiber cores 18 and the flexible water shielding pipes 23 which is put on the outside thereof and is fixed watertightly at both ends to the sheaths of the optical cables are provided to the junctures of the optical cables 12 housed in a composite electric power-optical cable and the cushion layer 22 is provided between the external pressure protective pipe 20 and the water shielding pipe 23. An interlock armor pipe 20 having crushing resistance and flexibility is put on the cable as the external pressure protective pipe. A heat shrinkable tube 22 consisting of a silicone resin or the like is put as the cushion layer on the outside circumference of the interlock armor pipe 20. A lead pipe 23 is further put as the water shielding pipe thereon. The pressure resistance, water tightness and flexibility are thereby imparted on the juncture and the damage of the water shielding pipe is prevented.
