PURPOSE:To provide an undercoating composition for a fluororesin-coated material, exhibiting excellent adhesivity to both the surface of the substrate and the fluororesin and composed of a fluororesin having a specific particle diameter, a thermosetting resin having a specific molecular weight and an organic solvent. CONSTITUTION:The objective undercoating agent is produced by dissolving a fluororesin composition having particle diameter of 0.5-40mum and composed mainly of one or more fluororesins (preferably a chain fluororesin having perfluoroalkoxy side chain, etc.) and a thermosetting resin (preferably imide resin) having a molecular weight of 500-4,000 in an organic solvent (e.g. N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone). Preferably, the amount of the thermosetting resin is 25-400pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. of the fluororesin and that of the organic solvent is 50-300pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. of the sum of the fluororesin and the thermosetting resin. The undercoating agent is applied to a substrate and baked first at 200-250 deg.C for 30-60min and then at 340-400 deg.C for 30-60min. A fluororesin is applied to the undercoating layer and baked to obtain a material coated with fluororesin.
